Skipper's Story
This is Skipper. She is a special bird. When she was just a week old, she had splayed legs because one of her parents had sat on her. We rigged up a brace for her legs to hold them in place, and she healed up perfectly. She has been so much fun!
Skipper as a baby
This is what sweet Skipper looked like when she was a week old. You can see in this picture how her legs are splayed instead of tucked under her.
Skipper's leg brace
This is a picture of Skipper wearing the brace that we made for her. She was very comfortable in it. You can see how her toes curled up and we were worried that they wouldn't straighten out, but she has developed excellent use of her legs and feet, and she stands and walks naturally.

Cuddling with Dad
Skipper is so spoiled that she loves to be cuddled like a baby.
Playing with her toy
Skipper with her toy. She loves to play with all kinds of toys. She loves her foot toys, which she shakes around and throws over her head behind her, then she runs and pounces on them.
Playing basketball
She also likes to play birdie basketball with the little goal that we got for her.
In her bowl
Because of her leg condition, she slept in this bowl for the first few months of life. Even after she was healed, she still loved her bowl.
Healthy and Happy
She is now a perfectly fine and spoiled rotten bird with healthy legs and feet!
